Seagate's New 4TB Xbox Expansion Card Costs More Than the Xbox Series S (theverge.com) 7
An anonymous reader shares a report: Seagate has announced a new 4TB version of its storage expansion card for the Xbox Series X and S consoles. It's the first time the company has introduced a new capacity since launching 2TB and 512GB versions of the expansion card in late 2021.
The 4TB card is available starting today through Seagate's online store and Best Buy for $499.99, but is discounted to $429.99 as part of a limited-time launch promotion. For comparison, the Xbox Series S starts at $379.99, while the Xbox Series X starts at $599.99.

It sounds ridiculous at first but a gen 5 NVMe SSD is about that price. Frustrating, but they don't support HDD's so that's what you're gonna have to pay to play the next COD lol

That generation of console doesn't have PCIe 5, though -- only PCIe 4. The PS5 uses standard M.2 NVMe drives, but wants them to be high speed (~7 GB/sec). As a result, one can get 4 TB of extra PS5 storage for between $250 and $280; that's a third less than this storage card, and you can use the PS5 drive in a PC if you want.

Yep, that's what I figured as well. Retail Amazon price on Samsung 4TB 4xPCIe Gen 4 NVMe is $299. The $150 brand tax is modest: if this were Apple it would be $899.
