Ford Unveils Mobile Office Options 10

pvt_medic writes "While the concept is not necessarily new, the fact that a major car company is offering a mobile office addon to their vehicles is. "Ford Motor Co. says it will soon offer wireless mobile offices in its F-series pickups, an option aimed at building contractors and others who do business on the road." With a touch pad computer, printer and GPS all included (other options of digital camera and credit card scanner) what will be next to be placed in a car?"

    How about a driver who won't be distracted by all the crap that doesn't make the drive any safer?

      Never will happen. People get distracted while driving even without cell phones, makeup, etc. Ever seen what happens when there's an accident on the other side of the road?

      Most people can't seen to drive, extra devices or not.

    • Around Houston, there are billboards posted in an attempt to make people concentrate on driving. Besides "world's most dangerous restaurant" (showing a person eating while driving) and "World's most dangerous salon" (same thing, but for makeup), there's one that says:

      "World's Deadliest Office"

      It shows a guy trying to do something with a chart on his laptop while driving. Considering the utterly moronic and clueless way so many people already drive around here, I can't see built-in computers being a
    • I have a rather long commute into work so I have plenty of opportunities to observe the in-duh-vidiuals that I'm on the road with. A goodly stretch of my commute is highway driving and I don't know about where you live, but Texas is big. Because it's big, everything is spread out so people drive 70-75 mph here just so you can get somewhere before next Tuesday.

      How about disabling any of the features that should not be used while driving unless the car is in park?
