A Wiki for Computer Modification 12

Paul Stamatiou writes "A few students from the Georgia Institute of Technology have created the first computer modifications wiki-style website, TheModWiki.org. It includes an extensive mod words glossary, links to other great modding resources, and many pc modification How-To guides and project logs. "This website was created by a few college students at the Georgia Institute of Technology that were fed up with having to scour the internet for the pc modding information they needed to help them with their own mods." TheModWiki.org is planning on reviewing many items from PC parts manufacturers and having several monthly contests with free giveaways."

  • I don't know if this is good or bad. It's like adding a cultural elements to an encyclopedia?!

It's like going to an official Ford dealer and seeing Saleen's modded mustang in addition to the regular Fords. It adds confusion but at the same time more info and variety.

    • The definition of a wiki has nothing to do with an encyclopedia despite the fact that the most popular wiki is one. A wiki is just a website that allows for collaboration with other people in the creation of information. Then again people visiting the website can confuse it with wikipedia because the design is so similar.
  • From the news section of the wiki: "6PM - My surge protector caught fire, and exploded with thick black smoke. a) What does this have to do with modding PCs? b) Why is this news for anyone? It's clear that it's just a bunch of techies who want to make a name for themselves but can't help but turn their site into a semi-blog.
