Creative sued for Base 10 sizes on MP3 Players 1

Submitted by Dorkz
Dorkz writes "Seems some body isn't too happy about Creative Labs Calculating the size of their HDD MP3 players using the the base 10 system (1GB = 10^9 or 1,000,000,000 Bytes) instead of base 2 (1GB = 2^30 or 1,073,741,824 bytes). Since it wasn't disclosed on the packaging the sap that didn't like it is entitled to $5000 according to the lawsuit filing located here... everyone else that purchased an "HDD MP3 Player" gets a discount from their next purchase from Creative Labs."

  • "We're going to punish you by making it more likely for a broad span of people to by from you again, after you falsely advertised in the first place. If they don't buy from you, they get nothing. If they do, you get profit but slightly less per item than before."

They should be entitled to a few bucks of rebate in the form of a check.
