sfcrazy writes "We heard rumors at FOSDEM that Canonical will be pulling plugs on Kubuntu soon. The news was confirmed by Jonathan that he won't be working on KDE after 12.04. Seems like Canonical is running out of resources and wants to invest everything in Unity. Sad as KDE has more options for users."

Unity is widely not just not accepted but despised by users. I honestly have to wonder where Shuttleworth's mind went. Supposedly, they went with Unity because they didn't like the current Gnome (and I don't blame them), but their "alternative" is worse than either.
