mr_sifter (1000807) writes "With its SB710/SB750 chipset, AMD allowed users to use core unlocking, to turn a triple-core Phenom into a quad-core model. The company cancelled the feature with its new SB850 series, but the industrious motherboard manufacturers of Taiwan aren't about to let that stop them — we take a look at how Asus, Gigabyte and MSI have worked around AMD's designs and re-introduced core unlocking."
