+ - HP Makes Transition From Pretexter to Pre Owner

Submitted by theodp
theodp (442580) writes "Less than three-and-a-half years after it paid $14.5 million to settle phone record spying charges, HP is buying phone maker Palm Inc. for $1.2 billion. In 2006, former HP Chairwoman Patricia Dunn stunned Congress, telling a House panel she was unsure whether lying to get private phone records was legal 'as opinions vary.' So will the Palm Pre be henceforth known as the HP Pre-text?"
