Anything to keep Flash alive. A clear indication (if another was needed) that Adobe cares little for open standards (apart from psd) or user experiance.

It may be read and even written to by other programs, but that doesn't make it an open format in the slightest. It's as proprietary as Flash, just better reverse-engineered.
